SNOWMOBILING Idaho has more than 7,200 miles of snowmobile trails – the most offered by any state in the Lower 48. The Boulder Creek Area, from Boulder Lake to the North Fork of the Big Wood River, holds miles and miles of groomed trails. In addition, the land surrounding the East Fork of the Big Wood River is open all season. DOWNHILL SKIING Sun Valley is one of the top-rated resorts in the country because the silky fresh powder of the high desert is like no other. A blue bird day for any skier on Baldy means top to bottom 3,400 vertical feet or swooshing into the bowls with a high-speed lift at the bottom ready for you to go again without a moment to lose. Baldy is also known for its internationally revered and exceptional grooming and snowmaking and its wide-variety of terrain from glade and off piste skiing to bumps and jumps. It’s also a world-class mountain offering a gondola ride to the world famous Roundhouse Restaurant and another few minutes further on a high-speed quad to a 360 view at just below 10,000-feet at Lookout Lodge from the top of Baldy. For those who want a little more ease or those just starting out on the slopes, Dollar Mountain is the answer where the love of skiing began for so many who graduate to Baldy. A spacious lodge with all the Sun Valley fixings, Dollar is suited for kids, families and anyone wanting to learn to ski. Sun Valley’s impeccable standards are no different at Baldy’s lodges with delicious dining at Seattle Ridge, River Run and Warm Springs. No lift lines, a top-notch ski patrol and lots of local resident ambassadors always ready to answer questions or join you on a chair lift is why “just living the dream” is the most common expression in Sun Valley.
