Sun Valley’s 81st Season LIVING ON THE EDGE WITH THE PERFECT CURVE, TURN AND BURN. Just when you thought you had mastered the mountain, you come across the Sun Valley SnowSports programs and you get invigorated to take it to the next level. Known for its top-notch instructors and the best mountains in the country to learn how to slide or ride, Sun Valley SnowSports has a long and storied history, turning out world-class skiers and snowboarders for decades. “Sun Valley SnowSports continues to offer our guests a full array of options, based on their interests and skill level,” stated Tony Parkhill, Sun Valley’s director of snowsports. “There is something for everyone, whether they’re skiing or snowboarding for the first time on Dollar Mountain or taking an advanced private lesson on Baldy. We match our instructors and students in an atmosphere of learning and enjoyment.” Two programs returning this season are the femalefocused Divas and Womens-Only Weekend (WOW). Divas is for intermediate to advanced-level female skiers looking for an all-mountain experience. The 2.5-hour group lesson meets once a week for eight weeks with three different sessions available starting in January. The Womens-Only Weekend (WOW) is designed for women, by women. WOW emphasizes camaraderie and skills improvement in an atmosphere that maximizes learning. Small groups allow more personalized attention and focus, along with après ski activities and video analysis. WOW is scheduled for February 3-5, 2017. SUSTAINING AND IMPROVING ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES Sun Valley’s dedication to environmental sustainability becomes stronger each season, as evidenced by its continued partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management for the Healthy Forests Initiative, which improves forest health by removing overstocked vegetation and trees to reduce hazards and destructive insects. This past summer, 21 acres were cleared on Bald Mountain as a part of the Healthy Forests Initiative, bringing the total number of gladed skiing acres to 55. Snow, snow and more snow! Consistently voted as one of the best in the annual SKI Magazine readers’ poll, Sun Valley maintains its reputation as setting the standard for expertly groomed slopes and impeccable snowmaking. As a part of these efforts, making environmentally responsible choices for grooming and snowmaking are important. 50 SUN VALLEY SOURCE
